A longer view.

Shipwreck Holdings is a privately held investment and holding company, controlled by a single family. It is not a fund. There are no limited partners, no outside investors, and no third-party capital under management.

We own our businesses directly, in majority or in whole, and we are involved in operating them. We sit on the boards, we take part in the decisions that matter, and we leave the day-to-day to the people who do it well.

We hold for a long time. We are not obliged to sell on a schedule, and we have not built the company in a way that would ever force us to. That changes what we can afford to pay attention to, and how patient we can afford to be.

We run a conservative balance sheet. We would rather move slowly with room to spare than quickly without it.

What we look for is unremarkable to describe and rare to find: a business that earns its keep, a management team worth backing, and a position that is defensible without having to be clever.

We work in Western Canada because we know it. Our people are here, our operating businesses are here, and the relationships that bring us opportunities are here. We look further afield when there is a reason to, and not otherwise.
